This video is more than “awesome.” It can teach you how to overcome all of the hurdles in your job search that are standing between you (a mature job seekers who is quite possibly over qualified for every job you are applying to or re-educated and fighting that “older with no experience” battle) and your next GREAT JOB!

So the question is then, how can you too be “AWESOME in your Job Search?”

So here are they are. The 3 Simple Steps to being AWESOME IN YOUR JOB SEARCH.

1. We are all playing with the same “4 chords” in our job search. What I mean is everyone has the same rule book or “4 chords.” BUT, it is how you interpret those rules that will set you apart. Just like in the video, even though every song had the same foundation they were all unique catchy and eventually became a “hit” for that band. You can choose to be U2 (a totally unique and one of the most successful bands EVER), or Haircut 100. Don’t remember them? There is a reason for that! Don’t stop believin’ baby.

2. Make it personal! The huge majority of the songs covered in the video are pretty personal to the person who wrote them. There are songs about relationships, drug abuse, physical abuse and anything else you can think of in there. The point I am trying to make is… your job search is personal. It is not about the hiring manager or anyone else! The most important thing you can do in your job search is make it about you, your needs, your requirements and your ideal situation. Just like in music, singers are often told to focus more on an emotion than being technical to get the best performance. If you want a Grammy Award winning performance, dig deep and give a hiring manager a performance based more on what you require to be happy and less on what you think they want. Common feel the noise!

3. Rock Out! Put on your “job gettin” outfit (even the studded leather one, if it works), do your pre-performance ritual (you know, pound a 40 of Jack Daniels) and hit the stage with confidence and give the best show of your life! Rock N’ Roll all night and Party Every Day.
